ENVIRONMENT:
Today environmental crisis is becoming more prominent. Ecological balance has been upset due to air pollution,water pollution and sound pollution. This is causing serious problems such as less rains,excess rains, draught,famine,earthquake etc., This is the result of environmental inequailibrium. Fire,water,earth, air and sky are elements,which create life. They nourish them. The combined form of these elements is environment. Equilibrium in these 5 elements controls and regulates environment. Danger to life is caused due to imbalance of environment. We are worried about environment since long back. Taking this into consideration sages of Vedic period made rules to maintain purity and conservation of the environment.
In Rigved, fire, its transformation and its properties;
In Yajurved properties of air and its different forms
In Samved water and its different forms and
In Atharvaved information about the earth element are given.
Sky element is discussed in all Vedas.Sages of vedic period considered these energies of nature to be supernatural powers, therefore in those days matter and energies were prayed upon and worshipped.
